The Great Hall

The Great Hall is the heart of the Castle. It is a magnificent room, oak panelled with an oak floor and Spanish chestnut ceiling. A minstrels’ gallery runs the length of one wall, the opposite wall having huge windows looking out towards the distant Pennines.

A wide staircase, leading from the minstrels’ gallery to the body of the Hall, provides the bride a chance to make a spectacular entrance.

Music may be provided either through a sound system or using the Broadwood coffin piano at the bottom of the staircase.

The Great Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies and can seat up to ninety-six people. For weddings in the Drawing Room, the Great Hall may be used for drinks afterwards or for a sit-down meal for up to fifty-six people.
